FIVA, the international festival of video art, is to take place at the Es Baluard’s Observatori, in the city of Palma de Mallorca, Spain, from 4 March to 12 April 2015.
Founded in 2011, this year’s edition of the festival is to be its fourth. Since its creation, it has consolidated itself and expanded its international reach. Video art has developed considerably since its creation in the 1960s, acquiring indisputable prestige in the art scene. In addition, the democratisation of technology required to produce video art (mobile phones, tablets, computers, new publication programmes) means that this medium is becoming increasingly popular. This festival therefore represents a strong symbol of diversity and a mixture of different cultural and national identities.
