‘CITY Unseen’ : A New [AR]t Experience (Orlando, Florida)

Snap! Orlando unveils ‘CITY UNSEEN’, an ongoing public art project with locations across Orlando that ignites the local landscape. This project opens artistic borders by launching the city and its visitors into Augmented Reality [ AR ] experiences, which captivate the audience with brilliant fusions of works by internationally renowned artists and cutting-edge AR technology.

Experiences include murals coming to life, a projection mapping finding permanence into the virtual world, and a teleport bringing the viewer into a 360 degree visit of the artist’s Los Angeles studio. Artists include Miami multi disciplinary artist Felice Grodin, Turkish digital artist Can Büyükberber, Los Angeles artist Nancy Baker Cahill, German street artist Mark Gmehling, Central Florida installation artists Mark Gerstein and Synthestruct, among others.

A ‘CITY UNSEEN’ App is available for users to enjoy the full range of art installations and immersive AR experiences at each installation site. CITY UNSEEN positions Orlando as a pioneer with a new vision for the fusion of art and technology in the 21st century and serves as a platform for discussion about social, cultural, and environmental issues affecting those around us.

Saturday, October 6, 2018, 8-11 PM:
Snap! Orlando presents “ray:trace” a large scale projection mapped mural installation by Turkish digital artist Can Büyükberber. ‘ray:trace’ is an audiovisual experiment at the intersection of light, space and time. The installation presents a sensational collapse of dimensionality by tracing the path of projected light on a 110 feet wide mural. The presentation will occur every half hour starting at 8 PM ~ 8:00 PM / 8:30 PM / 9:00 PM / 9:30 PM / 10:00 PM / 10:30 PM. Lawn of The First Green Bank, 2 W. Robinson, Orlando 32801.
